One of the biggest problems I’ve had with search engine optimization companies is that they’re allowed to make massive claims without ever having to back them up. They’ll promise top rankings, floods of traffic, and more leads—but then tell you to “wait three to six months” before you’ll maybe see results.

Single care before you get there—before I even pick up the phone, I want proof. You should too. Ask them for actual client back-end dashboard screenshots showing real, verifiable performance. Not cherry-picked graphs or vague reports—actual proof from inside real accounts.

Even better, don’t just take their word for it. Ask for a specific keyword and location they’ve supposedly ranked a client for. Then turn off personalized search results and look it up yourself. If you can’t find their client anywhere near the top, that tells you everything you need to know.
